Open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, the employ- ment centre is a good starting point for students in their job search. Student Placement Officer Tammy Trach, will be enlisting the help of local businesses this week to find jobs for students. This week is Hire a Student Week and Trach said students can volunteer to help during the week. Monday was a chance for stu- dents to learn how to write and prepare a resume. Trach said stu- dents can come in at any time for help with resumes. Tuesday saw Trach starting an employer blitz in Terrace Bay and Wednesday she plans to be in Schreiber. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Twelve travel counsellors for local Information Centres took part in a one day workshop last week. The centres will be opening full-time within the next week. Thursday, Trach will be at Costa's in Terrace Bay to help promote the CECS. During the afternoon Friday, Trach will be holding a neighbor- hood blitz to find jobs for stu- dents. Even though the centre ,has only been open for just over a week, Trach said, "we have lots of jobs but very few students." She said when students come in to register they should have their Social Insurance Number with them as referrals to cmploy- ers cannot be made without this number. To use the CECS services, you must be a student whois return- ing to school in the fall. Trach said students sometimes misunderstand what the CECS is all about. "It doesn't look bad to come here," she said. "It's where employers go to look for employ- ees - it's not a sign that you can't get a job."
