Local youth Cory Ziegler took part in the Sri Chimnoy Oneness- Home Peace Run last Saturday by carrying the peace torch from about one and-a-half kilometres from Terrace Bay to the munici- pal office (see picture below). The Sri Chimnoy Oneness- Home Peace Run is an inter-con- tinental torch relay where runners are carrying flaming torches throughout the length and breadth of the world. On April 27, 1987, a small torch-flame was lit at the foot of the Statue of Liberty in New York City. The torch was passed along and also lit many other torches, symbolizing another spark of peace. Several flames and several runners are presently relaying in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, South America, and of course, Canada. The Sri Chimnoy run is a dynamic expression of the spirit of being able to go beyond per- ceived limitations no matter what has already been achieved. The run will go through towns and cities, across mountains, jun- gles, deserts, from continent to ---- * Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, June 24, 1987, page 13 Local youth carries torch for part of peace run continent, intent on pushing onward to bridge the cultural and social barriers, the ideological and demographic boundaries that separate nation from nation. This project is part of our 5-year Fisheries Program. Its main purpose is to establish a self- sustaining population of walleye, which will help improve the limited distribution of. this sport species and provide additional angling opportuni- ties for local, resident and non-resident users. Guidelines set by the Ministry of the Environment for Fish Stocking in New Waters will be followed. This particular project, known as Class Environmental Assessment, is intended to give interested and affected parties the opportunity to provide input to the planning of such projects.
