Huard and Mom, Marg Nesbitt have returned from visiting relations in Echo Bay. Get Well in hospital to Jack Bits and Bites By Helene Ballard Here we are again with another bit of "wee talk". It is so nice to see the grass turning green- sure was a nice month of April. Last Tuesday our faithful card players were here to bring some fun to our card players here at the home - thank-you very much. Our birthday party this month was held on the 23rd hosted by the C.W.L. of St. Martin's Church. We only had one birthday kid this month -Mr. John Hache. After cake and coffee the residents en- joyed Bingo which they all seem to love. Father Campbell did a good job of calling out the numbers, so to him and the. ladies of the C.W.L.- thanks. Thanks are also due to the ladies of the Community Church for their delightful Easter placecard which were near our places at the table. We really enjoy these thoughtful gifts. They help make the day more meaningful for us . Our heartful thanks ladies. A former resident of Terrace Bay was in town, Mr. Leon Anne Todesco continued from page 2 There couldn't be a better place to live or a cleaner and a more at- tractive little town wilth beautiful homesteads. No one locked doors outside of the stores and post office. It was a great loss for the village to lose their railway station. The waiting room was another gathering place for the men where topics of railroading, fishing, building or sports were discussed thoroughly. The ladies had their softball teams. Some of the players were Grace Bruley, Anne Todesco, Olive Paulmert, Annie Gerow, Lena King, Mary Anderson, Lot- tie Anderson, Stella Lennox, Mary Archambault, and when some of the older ladies came up to bat or run to the bases, it was something to see but we provided our husbands with many a good laugh and it was fun. The men's hardball team tilted out in real baseball charm coloured suits even the caps. They had a chap come to town looking for players to hire on for the big league teams as they heard about Harry Bain's ability in the pitcher's box and he was an excellent pitcher but he refused to leave his home team and commercial fishing. Some of the players on his team were Oscar Anderson, Fred Gerow, Einar Anderson, Charles Gerow, Malcom and John Sutherland, Angus Bruley, Felix and William Legault, Freezie Benard, Bill Thrower, Eli King, Dolph King, Peter King Sr., Moses King, Ted Hiller (his team was before my time here). Men's Softball team- Eugene Legault, Herb Legault, Felix Legault, John St. John, Charles Todesco, James Paulmert, John Gerow, Dan Gerow, Charles Gerow and Eli King. Noonan and Edgar Le Blanc, Mrs. Charlie Pearson has Mrs. Tom Borutski, Mrs. Kringle, Gail Welbourne and Mrs. Driscoll. Mr. and Mrs. Larivee and family have returned from Iro- quois Falls. Checkryn who wished to be remembered to everyone, he was enjoying his visit very much. This "Little old lady" has been enjoying a visit of my son Harvey Ballard and his wife Shelly who are house guests of Syl and Lou Duquette. Now that the baseball season is here, I have a wee riddle for you. There are 3 little ole ladies-sit- ting together, on the ground, at their feet is an empty whiskey bottle- now what inning is it and how many men are on base? Well, it is the end of the fifth and the bags are loaded. N.B. In the states a fifth is measure of booze. I sure would like to know how this joke went over -oh well. Guess I better sign off while I can Until next week - Cheerio. returned from visiting relations in St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Maronese have returned from their vacation in Forida.
