(The following was submitted by Nicolette Kaszor, public relations for the 1987 Sibley Ski Tour). The important thing to remember is that you don't have to be a competitive skier to enter the Sibley Ski Tour. One of our goals is to increase participation in the sport, and to foster a feeling of comraderie among our skiers. Most of our skiers are recrea- tional, who just come out for a great day of skiing. Those who like a more competitive flavour can enter the 50 km event, the only race of the four distances. Last year, 700 people registered for the event, making it the largest cross-country ski event in Nor- thwestern Ontario, and one of the largest sporting events period. The age range of participants is from 6 to 75. Skiers are attracted from throughout Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as from the United States (Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin). Terrace Bay and area were well represented in last year's tour. Each skier is presented with a souvenir pin upon completion of their chosen distance.
