After living through sucha series of events, Schreiber resident Dominic Deleo decided to do something about the situation himself. As a Schreiber native, he had seen a number of such shops come and go from the downtown area, though there hasnt been one there for over five years. Deleo said the salon had been his first line of work until he decided earlier this year to open a_ variety store. He still wanted to keep the salon, however, so he moved it to the open area at the back of the building. "Yes, I will continue with Dominic's Uni-sex Hairstyling," he stressed. Both establishments are located at 313 Scotia Street. He and his wife, Rita, will be running the shop at the front, which is why he named the store D & R Variety. Their son Vince, 6, and daughter Théresa, 5, sometimes lend a hand.' "The store is coming along quite well now, con- sidering I have only been open here for a few days."* Deleo said. He added that the shop has a complete line of grocery staples, jincluding milk and bread, as well as cigarettes, health products, and *'lots of candy for the kids.' Maybe doctors and patients should look in a mirror and ask if health care should be more the -individual's respon- sibility and less the govern- ment's? Why advocate' the teaching of sex in schools if nobody is practising care of the body itself? Perhaps doctors are overworked - perhaps: a lot of us should have known better than to abuse our eyes or stomach or muscles.
