All participants are guaranteed two matches. Merchandise prizes will be awarded simply by registering. Trophies will be awarded to the winner in respective divisions. Divisions will be A, B and Novice. We encourage our squash players to get back in the regular swing and prepare for the Tourna- ment. We extend.a special invitation to people who would like to try the sport. Remember free instruc- tions will be provided if you wish to try. Racquetball Players: We will also hold a one week Tournament beginn- ing on March 3 for recrea- tion members. Details at the office. Dieting or looking for a way to personal fitness? Try Squash or Racquet- ball! Calories burned in 45 minute court booking, approximately 800. We have racquets available for rental! Swim Courses: The department wishes to remind all interested students and adults that Marathon will host a Bronze Cross February 7, 8, 9 and 14, 15, and 16 and Diving Level I. Interested? Ontario Arts Council Meeting: There will be a meeting on January 30 at 2 p.m. at the Schreiber Recreation Complex to discuss the for- mation of a group to work towards offering cultural attractions for the youth of Schreiber and Terrace Bay. This meeting is open to the pusica Karate (Frank Pullia): The Karate program will commence on February 18. This program is open to Recreation members ages 10 years and up. Frank Pullia is a brown belt in- structor and we hope to. form a Karate Club in Ter- race Bay under his able in- structions. Classes will be held twice a week on Tues- day at the Public School from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday in the Con- ference Room from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a maximum registration of 25 and the first 25 will be accepted. Arena Schedule: Please note that the Jamboree scheduled The Annual North Shore Hockey Jamboree will be held February 21, 22, and 23 in Manitouwadge. There is no charge to anyone wishing to par- ticipate. The tournament is open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 13. years old. All you need is hockey equipment and a little spen- ding money. The organized to play down the "competitive edge," to foster fun, participation, friendship and sportsman- ship. On Wednesday, January 29 a Level 1 Hockey Coaches Clinic will be held. The course will run from 6 to 10 p.m. with a one hour on-ice session. For more information con- tact the Recreation Office. On Thursday, January 30 at 2 p.m. in the Art Room of the Recreation Complex, a meeting will be held to discuss the possibility of forming a Children's Programming group. Dorothy Gregory of the Ontario Arts Council will be attending. She will assist in the organization of the group and discuss grants and other assistance that is available. Anyone' in- terested in working with such a group or just wishing to share some ideas or in receiving some information on children's programming is asked. to attend this meeting. Cross Country Skiing (Roger Lanthier) (Adult): This course will be rescheduled when we receive sufficient registration. Drying Plants (Eleanor Gould): Learn how to collect dry and preserve plants for ar- rangements and decorating purposes by attending this one day seminar. Also see a demonstration on the making of a Pot Pourri. Jazz Dancing (Angela Prince): We still have openings for both males and females who are interested in Jazz warm up and floor exer- cises. This 45 minute pro- gram will be held on Mon- day nights at St. Martin School Gym commencing February 24 at 6 p.m. Kids Krafts (Donna Mikeluk): There are some openings for registration in the crafts program for children ages 7-12 years. Valentine and Easter crafts will be featured. Gourmet Microwave (Carolyn Cotton): There will be a Gourmet Microwave course held on Saturday, March 1. We need more registration to make this course a reality. Microwave for Children (Carolyn Cotton): More registration is needed to make this course a success. Photography (Pat Marcella): There are a few more openings available for those who would like to learn how to work a 35mm camera and use of various lens and creative filters and flash systems. Picture Framing (Ed Taylor): The response to this pro- gram is coming along and we will be rescheduling at a future date. Those already registered will be notified. as to the date and times. Pre-Retirement Planning (Ministry Tourism and Recreation): - We still have openings for a few more names in this program which will help those persons who want to plan their retire- ment now. You will receive financial planning and how you can become involved in areas to occupy your free time. Rice Paper Lampshades (Eleanor Gould): There are a few more openings in this program which will take place on February 28 and March |.
