Scott Chalmers Retires Approximately 210 Kimberly-Clark employees and Terrace Bay/Schreiber townsfolk, colleagues and friends of Scott Chalmers and his wife Margaret, gathered at the Schreiber Recreation Centre last Fri- day to pay tribute and say goodbye to a couple who in only a few short years have endeared themselves to one and all. Arriving in Terrace Bay in the spring of 1980, the Chalmers immediately joined in to the social ac- tivities in town, especially the curling and golf scene. Known locally as a man who personified the term ""gentleman", Scott was an enthusiastic contributor to the town and company events and his role in help- ing to guide the Communi- ty Church will not' be forgotten. Those who attended the "do" in Schreiber were treated to a buffet supper followed by an entertaining look at the "highlights" of Scott and Marg's years in the area, as told by Al Chisholm, M.C. for the event, with artwork assistance by Kevin Cocks. Following this humorous rendering of their life in Terrace Bay, the fun continued as Marg was presented with a cookbook of recipes and witticisms from her friends in town. Denise Groman, only half-jokingly, sug- gested that Marg publish the book so that all who contributed could have a copy. : The surprise of the night occurred when __ the Chalmers' daughter, Anne was the next "gift" presented. She had flown in secretly from Ottawa and was visibly a most welcome addition to Scott and Marg's enjoyment of the evening. Following Anne's §ar- rival, Scott was presented by Lucille Kodila with 2 pictures which had hung outside his office for many years and which he was known to admire greatly. THANK YOU We wish to thank our family for taking us out for a wonderful supper to cele- brate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Also the many friends and neighbours who came to the house congratulating us on our special occasion. And special thanks to my sister Nellie & Joe Molinski from Vancouver B.C. who phoned' and wished us happiness. Marg. & Dave Nesbitt _ THANK YOU We would like to take this time to say how much we appreciate the love and support of all the residents who con- tributed in so many ways to help make the celebration of the marriage of our mother Clara (nee Gould) to Cliff McDonald a success. Love Nancy & Gail Stan Cano, on behalf of the Technical Department brought to light and solv- ed Scott's predisposition for having his hands in his pockets by giving Scott a pair of pants with sewn up pockets and, in recognition of Scott's prowess as a Technical Department golfer, further presented him with a miniature put- ting green trophy complete with club and special golf balls, the likes of which on- ly Technicall personnel are familiar with. Frank Hurley, on behalf of the U.P.I.U. Local 665 contributed to Scott's retirement wardrobe with a cap and T-shirt emblazon- ed with the Union's logo. Scott's secretary, Susan Hay, was pleased to give "Scott a memento photo album of many of the K- C'ers with whom Scott had worked, and Bill Love came forward with a Safe- ty Award Jacket as a way of saying thanks to Scott for his efforts in that area. As the final gift of the evening, Walter Groman presented Scott and Marg with a beautiful amethyst clock mounted on an engraved plaque. Obviously moved by the presentations and outpour- ing of kind feelings shown to he and his wife, Scott thanked all present for making the evening and their life in Terrace Bay a happy memory in all ways. Scott them promised to return this winter to bonspiel with his team and to renew acquaintances. The remainder of the evening comprised a dance, interjected with an olde-fashioned sing-song with Fred McColeman on piano and Pam Jones on maroccas. We wish Marg and Scott a long and happy retirem- nent in Baltimore, Ontario. Schreiber Public Library Mrs. Betty Ann Klassen presided for the October meeting of the Schreiber Public Library.
