The pro- ceeds from UNICEF cards -help provide the basic necessities to which all children should be entitled - adequate nutrition, safe drinking water, basic health care and education. By sending UNICEF cards this holiday season, you can help future generations move from illiteracy and despair towards productivi- ty and self-sufficiency. For a free colour brochure with this season's collection, call 1-800-268-6364, and ask for Operator 509. By giving UNICEF cards and gifts this holiday season, you can join UNICEF in a virtual revolution for children. The proceeds from the sale of UNICEF products help fund 'a simple, low-cost health program in develop- ing countries which enables millions of jeopardized children to survive infancy. The four point program, known as G.O.B.I., pro- motes the monitoring of the child's Growth, the ad- ministration of Oral Rehydration Therapy for diarrhoea, encourages mothers to Breastfeed their children longer, and makes Immunization of children against diseases a top priority for parents and governments. World-wide the results have been revolutionary. Increased child survival has been ac- companied by a declining birth rate. Give the children a tomorrow! Join the child survival revolu- tion today! For a free col- our brochure featuring beautiful UNICEF pro- ducts, call 1-800-268-6364 and ask for Operator 509. Give the children a tomorrow by giving attrac- tive UNICEF cards and gifts to your loved ones this Holiday season. Every day about 350,000 babies are born. For many of them there will be no tomorrow. Thirty-two thousand of them will not live to be one year old. A_ full ninety- seven percent of those who die will have been born in a developing country. These are statistics that stagger - especially when one knows that most of these deaths are easily preventable. UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, works in 110 developing countries giv- ing life and hope for a future to children who nor- mally would have none. You can help support UNICEF's efforts by sen- ding UNICEF cards and gifts. For a look at this year's attractive selection, call 1-800-268-6364 and ask for Operator 509. One of the reasons UNICEF, the United Na- tions Children's Fund, is able to accomplistrso much world-wide is because its fundraising activities are largely carried out by volunteers. All designs for UNICEF cards are con- tributed by artists or museums, and the sales force is almost 100% volunteer. All of the DODGE EXCLUSIVE CANADAS BEST TRUCK WARRANTY PROTECTION 1. M4S (416) Gear up winter gear Leather boots, shoes and handbags deserve special treatment to protect them from harsh Ontario winters, says Clothing and Textiles Specialist Margaret Loewen of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food's rural organizations and ser- vices branch. Check last year's boots and shoes carefully. Repair heels and soles and stitch torn areas. Be sure all items are clean and then apply one or two coats of polish to leather. Brush suede with dense sponge or bristle brush. Polish handbags with neutral rather than colored shoe polish because col- ored polish could stain your clothing. Silicone spray, available for leather or suede, should be applied before you wear boots outdoors. "This spray helps pre- vent staining, but it does not make your boots water- proof", Loewen says. If your boots do become soaked with rain or snow, dry them at room temperature, stuffed with paper. Keep your boots away from hot air registers which create steam and cause the leather to become brittle and hard once it dries. Brush suede only after it has dried, using a terry towel or brush to bring up the nap. Store your boots and shoes where the air can cir- culate around them. And never store boots and shoes in plastic bags. AUTO HOME LIFE CALL NO CHARGE 1-800-465-3916 ey DAVID B. se LAMBERT INSURANCE AGENCIES 28 N.
