Marg and Huck Gerow will convene the Home Bingo until the New Year. Mr. W. Gerow and Mr. Murphy will be in charge of the shuffleboard. Mr. Ken Davis reported on the recent maintenance to the basement. The Centen- nial Committee was com- mended by those present for a big job well done. Members of the Club who went to "Polly Lake" together with the Residents of Birchwood Terrace by bus on Friday enjoyed an afternoon of fun and food and fellowship. We thank the Auxiliary for the hospitality shown to us. Happy Birthdays were sung to Freda Gerow, Bart Kusyk, Al Slater, Marg McKenna, Ester Birch, Dora Weaver and A. McGrath. The winners of the draws were M. McKenna, Dora Weaver, Celia Valentino, Vi Nesbitt and Marg Gerow. Mr. Al Slater showed a film on The Northwestern 'Mounted Police which was enjoyed by all. Following the meeting games of Bridge and Shuffleboard won by Ken Davis and Beth McAdam and Whist by Celia Valentino and Winnie Campbell. A pot luck lunch. followed. WHEREAS under Section 313 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, as amended, the Council of every municipality may pass by-laws for prohibiting the injuring or destroying of trees and related matters; NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the T hip of T ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 5 c abc Se s oe 1. This By-law applies to trees growing on any highway or public lands within the Township of Terrace Bay. 2. (a) The authority to remove or injure any tree required under Subsection 6 of Section 313 of the Municipal Act may be given by the Township Engineer. (b) The Township Engineer may cause to be trimmed or removed any decayed or dangerous trees, or any trees planted without authority under this By-law. (c) The Township Engineer shall supervise the planting of trees on any highway within the Township of Terrace Bay, and no person shall plant any tree on a highway without first having obtained the authority of the Township Engineer. 3. In giving authority for the removal or planting of trees under this By-law, the Township Engineer shall consider and take into account the following guidelines: (i) Wherever possible trees shall be preserved, and shall not be removed only for the-convenience of any person; (ii) Wherever possible every tree which is removed shall be replaced with a newly planted tree; (iii) Where a tree is to be planted, the location of the planting shall be determined so as to minimize the risk of damage to the tree, to accomodate the use of the surrounding property by public utilities, and to address the concerns of adjacent owners of private property; (iv) No tree of any species which in the opinion of the Township Engineer is unlikely to survive or which is likely to create a nuisance shall be permitted to be planted; 4. No person shall attach any object or thing to a tree located on any highway or in any public place without the authority of the Township Engineer. 5. Every person convicted of a breach of this by-law shall be liable to a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). 6. This by-law comes into force upon adoption by Council of the Corporation of the Township of Terrace Bay.
