Page 2, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, July 31, 1985 _ sits anc by Helene Ballard by Helene Ballard I hope everybody is rested up after the week long celebrations in our neighbourhood town of Schreiber. I have heard so many glowing accounts of all the different events and I understand the parade was a big hit with everyone. A lot of long, hard work went into this project and ali the other events so I say '"Well Done Schreiber" and Best wishes for another one hundred years. Before I go on here I want to publicly thank a good friend of Birchwood, Addie Beaulieu. This thoughtful person came to the Home the morning of the parade, saw that our residents had no transpor- tation to the parade so she took those who wanted to go, who by the way all got to ride on the Senior Citizen Float. When Addie arrived in Schreiber, she found out there was no driver for the float so again she offered her services and in spite of a "Pit Stop" for a flat tire, she did a wonderful job of driving so to you Madame Beaulieu, "*A Big Thank You."' I guess by now most of the visitors have all gone home again and we are left with beautiful and happy memories. The residents of Bir- chwood received a very lovely floral arrangement from Sherlee McQuaig who was here visiting her mother Inaz - we thank you very much Sherlee for your thoughtfulness. That was some storm we had last week and no doubt most of you folks saw the tree that blew down across our driveway, well we can't blame anybody for that, it was "An Act of God," and we thank Mr. Joe Marcella who was kind enough to come and saw - the tree up so it could be removed from _ the driveway. If anyone wants to "Teach an old dog new tricks" it's time to start now so 'your pet will be ready for our dog show in Sept. - more about this later. It sure is nice to see our town so nice and clean and the trash in the cans where it belongs. This goes to show you it can be done if we all help, so keep it up folks and show the many tourists who come through here how proud we are of Terrace Bay. I have been told that I am a "fussy old lady on this matter but I don't think so."' Seems we have no bite this week, guess all our bites took a holiday so I'll leave you with this little bit of advice. "Life's a mirror, if we smile, Smiles come back to greet us, If we're frowning all the while, Frowns forever greet us." I would also like to print this letter I received: Dear Mrs. Ballard: I would just like to say ae Se ee how much I enjoy your weekly column in the Ter- race Bay Newspaper. I look forward to reading it the most. I was wondering if you could help me out with a "Bite." My "Bite" is for people who keep their dogs chained outside day and night all year round and NEVER take them for a walk. I see many of these poor animals around town and it makes me furious! These people should realize who they are and at least, take their dog for a walk around the block once a week. Believe me, they will sure appreciate it. And if these people are too "busy" to do even that, then at least let them off the chain once in a while to run around the yard. I would really appreciate, if you would print this "Bite" some time Mrs. Ballard. Sincerely a young sym- pathetic dog lover. P.S. Thank you and keep up the good work! Until next week. Au Revoir.
