by HELENE BALLARD Hi! Ho! I hope no one is get- ting waterlogged but even if some people think this is better than snow because "you don't have to shovel it', I'll take snow. At least one can go for a walk in it and not get soaked. Guess I better keep my ideas to myself. We had a very nice "'Sing-a-long"' with Father Pottie last Wed- nesday. Some of us can't sing as well as we did when we were young, but we have fun just the same, all those old songs bring back mem- ories and believe me at our age that's about all we have left. Well it's beginning to look like Christmas here at Birchwood. The staff sure keep busy putting up the decorations and I think we will all be happy to see the big tree go up. I understand we can all join in and "help" with this. Sounds like a ton of fun. I would like to take time out for just a sec- ond to thank all of- you who have encouraged me in my feeble efforts at writing, one lovely lady said she likes the way I keep everything "nice and clean", well maybe because I write this while I am doing my washing - everything comes out nice and clean, even my column. O.K. Helene! enough nonsense. No doubt all you busy women are up to your eye balls in Christmas baking. Boy, all those rich goodies sure taste good, but with all those calories, by the New Year some of us will look like Greyhound Buses. Too bad we can't take the calories out when we bake. I hear we are going to have a "Talent Show" here at Birchwood. I wonder if we have any future stars here in this fair town. I'll have more on this next week. My bite this week con- cerns people who take their dog for a walk and let them relieve them- selves on other peo- ple's lawns. Now when one has no dog of their own, it's not very nice to have to clean up after other dogs - so let's try and consider other peo- ple's feelings and take our pets for a walk away from front lawns. We can do it if we try. Thanks. And until next week, remember "Love thy neighbour but leave his wife alone."' by WINNIE CAMPBELL The regular monthly meeting of the Holy Angels C.W.L. was held Sunday November 1|1 with presi- dent Billie Ann Saarinen presiding.
