They will be perform- ing outdoors in com- munities around the pro- vince from June 25th to August 18th. Polka Dot Door Live is produced by Gairey Richardson of Child's Play Product- ion. The team from the show got everybody in the crowd, young and old, to join in in songs such as the Polka Dot Door theme song "Al- ouette'"' and also "'Hap- py Birthday"' to Ontario. They pulled letters out of an envelope and hung them on the stage. When the. letters were arranged. in sequence they spelled ONTARIO. _ The toys were intro- '.duced and Polkaroo "came out and joined in -. on the fun. When Pol- : karoo came out, the eyes : of every child became as \* huge as saucers with de- light to see their favorite friend from Television. cast in 1971, hundreds of thousands of young- sters have entered the 'world of imagination and adventure of the Polka Dot Door. The philosophy behind the show is that children learn through play. The show encourages cur- iosity, creativity and im- agination. Polka Dot Door encourages child- ren to be active partici- pants rather than pass- ive spectators. This summer, young people throughout Ontario will get a chance to see a brand new, bilingual show featuring the four familiar Toys (Humpty, Dumpty, Marigold and Bear), plus a new char- acter, Minou; and, of course, everybody's favourite, Polkaroo. The show focuses on a variety of Bicentennial themes contained in the Showcase and the show is designed to encourage 'interest in Ontario's heritage, culture and achievements. Polka Dot Door Live was a high- light of Bicentennial celebrations in Terrace ' Bay and Schreiber for both young and old.
