Mr. Brunet has work- ed in the technical divi- sion of Abitibi-Price of Smooth Rock Falls since 1968 and has lived all but 10 years of his life in the riding. He started as a shop steward in Local 32. of the Canadian Paper- workers Union and rose to become president of the same local. He also helped organize the Em- ployees Assistance Committee at Abitibi- Price and served on it for the last 8 years. Mr. Brunet has a long history of involvement in community affairs within the riding: he is an active member of the Smooth Rock Falls Lions Club; he is secretary of Les Bons Amis, a franco-ontarion cultural club; finally he is a member of the Board of Directors of the North Cochrane Addiction Ser- vices. He is also a past president of the Coch- rane North NDP riding association. Mr. Brunet is mar- ried to Huguette (nee Lortie), a Timmins na- tive. He has a 19 year old daughter Jeanne and a son, the late Denis. He was born in Fauquier, Ont., the 7th of 13 child- ren born to Alice (nee Guenette) and Auguste Brunet. He attended St. Gertrude School and the Smooth Rock Falls High School.
