Susan Johnson Hewson is surrounded by some of her Photographs and an "Earthwood Original" creation, which are just some of the samples of what will be on display at her first 'showing' in the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre on Saturday, May Sth. | i a vr "Terriers win Jr. "B" Championship The Portage Terriers defeated the Selkirk Fishermen 5-2 on Sunday April 15. The Keystone Trophy was presented by Mr. Jim Ward of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, 'President of the West- ern Canada Junior Dean Moxham, Captain of the Portage Terriers. If it is any consola- tion to the North Stars, we were told that last year when Portage host- ed the tournament, they didn't win a game. This year they won it all. It would be nice if the North Stars could do the same thing. Keep up the good work and better luck next year. Congratulations to the 'Executive of the Schrei- © ber North Stars and vol- unteers who undertook a gigantic job and com- pleted it successfully. 'Comments from Portage and Thunder Bay pa- rents indicate that the Western Canada Junior "*B"' Championship was well organized and very enjoyable. by LYNNE BADGER There is a new busi- ness in the area. There thas been neither a "Grand Opening" nor copious amounts of ad- vertising to let us know it is around. After two years of quiet experi- mentation, suddenly, last October, Birch Magic Photography be- came a reality for Susan Johnson-Hewson. Now it's time to show every- one what Birch Magic has to offer. Susan will be having .the first "Show" for her. work on Saturday, May 5th from noon to 6 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre. The show will consist pri- marily of a display of framed scenery photo- graphs. The scenery was photographed from Nipigon to Manitouwad- ge both .on the Lake- shore as well as inland. Many are recognizable by local residents and make excellent parting and retirement gifts. Examples of Susan's portrait and wedding photography will also be on display and she will take bookings there. ~ Rae Eckel and Ed TERRACE BAY LADIES GOLF CLUB Sem:Annual Meeting Thursday, May 3rd 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Terrace Bay Recreation Centre Terrace Bay-Schrelber News, Wednesday, May 2, 1984, page 9 A Step Closer To A Dream Kenney (from Rossport) will contribute to the - show as well with their "Earthwood Originals" handcrafted nature scenes created from natural materials. Susan is a local talent who only discovered this particular course in Manitouwadge and felt that some of her pic- tures were worth fram- ing. Some people ag- reed and encouraged her by buying two of four pictures she dis- played in a local bank, on the first day. Since then she has been build- ing up a selection of framed photographs to give people a _ wider range of scene and colour selection. Until she can open an actual shop and do things for herself, she chooses the colour mats and has_ the 'framing done in Thun- der Bay. The "shop" is still a dream, along with. a studio. Her show on May Sth is the first step toward fulfilling that dream. Thanks to all The winner of the Ladies Fastball Raffle Diane Fischer bought tickets. who sold and ae a success.
