Paper Tole (beginners and advanc- ed) Bette Hastings in con- junction with Confed- eration College. Paper Tole is an old art dating back to the 18th/19th century Eur- ope. It is a three dimen- sional picture created by cutting three or more identical prints and lay- ering them together us- ing silicone. The stud- ent will be cutting each print apart in a differ- ent manner and sculpt- uring and layering them to produce a dimension- al effect. Beginners will learn all basic principles and complete a project. Frames for completed projects will be avail- able at an extra cost. Those who have taken the course previously will learn advanced and new techniques and complete a different pro- ject. This course will be held Saturday May Sth, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the Con- ference Room of the Recreation Centre. Fee is $30.00 and this in- cludes all supplies. Time of the meet- ing will be at 7:00 p.m. in the Multi-purpose room. Slow pitch is a team sport and all play- ers are involved in the game. The advanced course will provide the officer with updates on legislative changes as well as the Young Of- fenders Act. These two requests were granted. Due to a problem with the Reeve attending the upcoming Council meet- ing, the date has been changed by resolution to Tuesday, April 10th. Council passed a reso- lution to hire Mr. Monty Paget as the town en- gineer for the summer months. They will also be looking at the possi- bility of hiring a full time engirieer in the future. A resolution was passed for an increase of 5S per cent for Council Remuneration, retro- active to January 1/84. Motions and Notice of Motion: Councillor Houston asked for Council's sup- port regarding a study to be done at the Agua- sabon Gorge. He felt that because of the state of disrepair, the inac- cessibility of the gorge, and because it could become an ideal tourist attraction, that Council should support him in seeing that this study was conducted, to see if development of this area would be _ feasible. Council agreed and sup- ported Councillor Houst- on in principle. Councillor Ramsey on behalf of the Police Dept., asked for a reso- lution to be passed for the expenditure of $14,475.00 plus tax for a new police cruiser for which the tender was received by Spadoni Bros. Ltd. This mofion was carried. Council also passed a resolution to allot the police department the sum of approximately $3,400 for the purchase of lock- ers, filing cabinets and a new garage door. This motion was carried. Councillor Houston asked that Council sup- port a resolution regard- ing M.T.C. snow remo-. val on Highway 17. It was suggested that they contact the surrounding municipalities asking for their support also. At the last Council meeting the Masonic Lodge asked Council for their assistance in pay- ing back taxes. Council wished to investigate the matter further and therefore met with two members of the Masonic Lodge on Friday, March 23rd. All members of Council and Reeve were in attendance at this special meeting. The Masonic Lodge is having financial difficulties with meeting the payment of their taxes. Because taxes due cannot be for- given, the only route that Council can take in order to assist them, is to give them a dona- tion of the sum owing. The Masonic Lodge would in turn give the money back to Council as payment of taxes. During the Friday meet- ing it was agreed by all Council members that this is the route that they would take. Councillor Chapman was asked to present the resolution at the March 26th meeting. Prior to presenting the resolut- ion, Councillor Chap- man was asked to table it until more discussion was given to the matter. After a lengthy discu- ssion as to what to do, Councillor Chapman made a Notice of Motion for the next meeting on April 10th. A decision regarding this donation will then be resolved. Following Committee Reports and Other Business, the meeting was adjourned and opened to the Public Question Period.
