Page 12, Terrace Bay - Schreiber News, Wednesday, January 25, 1984 ° | PHOTO ESSAY on -- THE McCAUSLAND HOSPITAL The McCausland Hospital Laboratory has expanded and all renovations to this area were com- pletéd last November. The project cost $72,000.00 and is now able to accomodate the necessary equipment needed and also makes more working space available to the four staff members. Pictured above are Kathy Dolp (Lab Technologist); Jim Files (Supervisor); Marikay Files (Lab Technologist); and Jean Fisher (Lab Assistant). Word was just received last week from the Ministry of Health that the Lab has been granted permission to operate a full-service blood bank at McCausland Hospital. The Lab is now large enough to house micro-biology services, should they be needed in the future. Meet Kathy Kennedy. Kathy is the hospital dietician and provides her services to not only the McCausland Hospital but also on a rotating basis to Marathon, Manitouwadge, and Geraldton. Kathy can be found at the hospital one week per month. Although the Ultra-Sound scanning machine is not brand new to the McCausland Hospital, it still assists the staff in various ways and plays an important role in day-to-day services. Seen here is Gwen Black, X-Ray Technologist, demonstrating how the Ultra-Sound device works. Meet Aurele Piche who is the Director of Nursing for the McCausland Hospital. Aurele has been with the hospital since the early parts of June '83, and is responsible for the entire nursing staff at McCausland. _ Another vital department within the McCausland Hospital is the Physiotherapy room. Seen here is Beverly Lafolley working with patient Terry Singleton. Because this service is now available right here in Terrace Bay, the need for outside services are lessened.
