This is an incred- ible record and one to be proud of and to be main- tained. The Technical Dept. consists of two sec- tions: The Technical Sources Department consisting of Main Lab personnel, Pulp In- spectors and Pulp test- ers and the Process En- gineering Department consisting of Process, Environmental and En- ergy personnel. This. milestone in safety was celebrated Saturday, November 12th at the Terrace Bay Curling Club with a Fun Spiel, Dinner and Dance. The evening's festivities began with a cocktail hour followed by a delicious dinner cater- ed to by Mrs. Faye Fig- liomeni and her ladies. This was followed by the fun spiel at 8:30 p.m. Mr. Stan Cano was M.C. for the evening Fun Spiel and was introduced by Mr. Bill Love, Safety Co- ordinator. Mr. Cano welcomed all the guests and then introduced Mr. Walter Groman, Presi- dent and General Man- ager. Mr. Groman ex- tended Kimberly- Clark's appreciation and congratulations for this achievement. He paid tribute to three long time employees of the Technical Department: Mr. Hugh Brophy, Mr. Rudy Gerlack and Mr. Henry Hermes. Mr. Groman noted that this record is a major achievement and dates back to the original Mill Startup in 1948. Mr. Cano then introduced the following guests: Mr. Scott Chalmers - Vice-President of Manufacturing and Technical Services; Mr. Dave Fikis - Technical Director; Mr. Al Chis-' holm - Director of In- dustrial Relations; Mr. Gerry Withers - Man- ager of Employee Ser- vices. Mr. Cano then thanked Terry Hay who organized the event for the Technical. Depart- ment. He also thanked Mrs. Figliomeni and her ladies for the delicious dinner. The Community Men- tal Health Programme has developed clinical services through six loc- al offices in the district over the past year under the guidance of the Clin- ical Director, Dr. T.J. Turner. Mental health assessment and treat- ment are offered to children and adults ran- ging across a wide va- riety of problems from brief reactions to diffi- cult situations to major psychiatric illness. Early in the year, the Ministry of Community and Social Services re- quested that the Mental Health Programme as- sume sponsorship of the Community Develop- ment Programme. The Mental Health Board appointed a task group to review possible or- ganizational models and to propose a detailed plan to the Ministry. It was felt that the best approach to sponsor- ship was a total inte- gration, the Mental Health Programme will continue its direct ser- vice role and the Com- munity Development Programme will con- tinue to develop pro- grammes that are de- signed to prevent the buildup of stress and provide resources to groups and individuals to cope with the stress they do experience. No significant changes in roles of the workers of either programmes are anticipated. Both Programmes are innovative and unique in the province.
