But much of that important history is lost over the years -- old photographs, documents, sketches, historical letters, and when many of our older citizens pass on, they take with them memorable recollections of their own, as well as stories and tales that have been handed down through genera- tions of northerners. The -- Ministry of Northern Affairs, as part of its Bicentennial celebration in Northern Ontario, wants to preserve as much of that history as possible in enduring forms. Working in co-operation with the Universities of Laurentian at Sudbury, and Lakehead -- at Thunder Bay, Northern Affairs invites northern residents to loan or donate historical material that will SOry Services. be documented and may be incorporated into a Northern Ontario pictorial history. While northern historians will research and write much of the text for the book, this project is largely relying on the co- operative efforts of northern residents, OX corporate and media archives and historical societies, who have important material to share either on a loan or donation basis.
