The Schreiber Parks and Recreation Department is in the final stages of planning and organizing the 1983 Fall Pro- gram. The Fall Program Brochure will be distributed at local schools and at the Rec- reation Office between September 6 to 9. Make certain you receive your copy! The Fall program will run from mid September to late December and will include the follow- ing programs and acti- vities: Ladies Aerobic Dance, Mixed Aerobic Dance, Youth Gymnas- tics, Power Ball, Adult Badminton, Jazz Bal- let Dancing, Youth Drop In, Belly Dancing, Paper Tole, Calligraphy, Relaxation Workshop, Mom and Me, Youth Weight Training, Women Weight Train- ing, Basic Photography, 'Basic sewing, Bread Dough People Making, and more. Calligraph _ The Calligraphy cour- se will be of interest to both the beginner, and experienced student. Course activities will in- clude, practical writing, lettering and illumina- tion, and designing with various calligraphy styles. The student will also be introduced to art history and exciting color work. Please bring felt markers, coloured inks and water kits.-Cal- ligraphy kits will be made available at the workshop. The course takes place Saturday, September 24, 1983 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p«m, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Art Room of the Recreation Complex. Registration deadline is Friday, September 16, 1983. It is an old art form dat- ing back to 18th - 19th century Europe, involv- ing the creation of three dimensional pictures by cutting and layering colourful prints. The student will learn to cut and prepare prints, plus sculpting and layering techniques. Materials will be made available at the workshop. The course takes place Saturday, October 1, at the Art Room of the Recreation Complex. For more informa- tion please contact the recreation office at 824- 2317. Relaxation Workshop Relaxation is the foun- dation for optimum phy- sical, emotional and spiritual health. By at- tending this workshop you will learn simple relaxation techniques that can be used at home, at work or any- where and at any time. Many new methods of telaxation will be pre- sented and you can adapt them to suit your lifestyle. The instruct- jons are stimulating, fun and very practical. Throughout the day you will be doing the tech- niques yourself and by the end of the workshop you will know how to relax! You will feel con- fident that being a bet- ter person is within your grasp. The Recreation Department would like to offer a Belly Dancing Course during the fall. Belly Dancing is a classic art form promoting muscle tone and poise. BMX Race Attention Youth ages 8 to 14. Should you own a BMX or motorcross style bicycle then plan to enter the BMX race of Friday, September 2. Prizes will be awarded to top riders. Swim Program Farewell As the third and final session of swimming lessons draw to a close, the swim staff would like to thank a number of people. All parents are thank- ed who attended the _ swim show, and parents day sessions. Your sup- port and interest in our program contributed to- wards the overall suc- cess of both activities. Summer Fun Festival The time has come (unfortunately) to say good bye to summer, and to the youth, and tot drop-in gangs. The staff and kids shared many laughs and good times throughout the summer. Why, what would we have done during floor games without "Boom- erang Cheryl"? We can- not forget Linda and her "Famous"' Kraft dinner on camping trips. Liz will always be remem- bered for her annual Badminton Tournament. Last but not least is Kelly, always hiding around the corner with her water gun ready to fire.
