FEBRUARY 14, 1979 TERRACE BAY NEWS PRGE co SCHOOL NEWS or PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY DAY Monday, February 5 was a Professional Activity Day for the teachers of St. Martin School, Terrace Bay and Holy Angels School, Schreiber. During the morning session, Mr. Joseph Kut- cher, Religion Consultant for the North of Superior District R.C.S.S: Board, presented an overview of religious education. Mr. Kutcher stressed the importance of religious education for people of all ages in a World where "science" and "belief" are often in conflict. Following an overview of the Canadian Catechism program, the teachers traced the development of several themes, Church, Sac- rements and Apostolate, within each grade level. This thematic development helped teachers to see the continuity of topics throughout the program. In the afternoon, Mr. Kutcher directed the teachers in creat -ing a celebration mural. The mural graphically depicts some of the symbols and rituals used to celebrate significant events in the teachers! lives. Inethis same spirit of celebrating to- gether as Christians and as Catholic teachers, Father Murtagh presided over the Eucharist before the day's activities con- cluded.
