IRCHWOOD RESIDENTS ENJOY GAMES NIGHT An enthusiastic group gathered at Birchwood Terrace, Thurs- day January 18 to join with equally enthusiastic residents in the Auxiliary's Games Night as they competed at Rummoli, Bridge Shuffleboard, Whist and Cribbage. Prizes were presented at the close of play by Co-Convenors Skip Davis and Betty Usher to: Shuffleboard = 1st - Betty Donaghue and Etta Gray, 2nd - John Ochert and Frank Junghans; Whist - Tie for first - Margaret Santerre and Cora Ropchon, 2nd - Art Gobeil; Bridge - High - Mary Chadwell, Low = Mary O'Neil; Cribbage = lst Hilda Hiebert and Gus Laurel, 2nd Stewart Anderson and Bill Kurylo. Refreshments were served by Mina Mahoney and May Dorland. The lucky chair prize was won by Mary Chadwell. President May Dorland welcomed the gratifying number in attendance. Minutes of the past and annual meeting were read by Recording Secretary Gertrude Cotton and Lillian Christie the Correspondence. Treas -urer Ken Macleod gave the financial statement and Peggy Thomp- son and Gertrude Cotton were appointed as auditors. Sick and Visiting report was presented by Estelle Wallwin and Gertrude Cotton reported for the Volunteer Services. Nominating Chairman Estelle Wallwin listed nominations and those duly elected were: President - May Dorland, Vice- President - Alma Hart; Corresponding Secretary Lillian Christie Recording Secretary Gertrude Cotton and Treasurer Estelle Wall- win. Directors: Blanche Speck, Elsie Cooke, Peggy Thompson, Betty Cruickshank and Cathy Gallenberger. The President read a report of the Auxiliary's 1978 activities and paid tribute to each of her supporting executive in the past year. Plans for the forthcoming Games Night were finalized with Skip Davis and Betty Usher volunteering to convene, Peggy Thomp -son assisting with bridge and Blanche Speck the cribbage tour- nament. Mina Mahoney and May Dorland will be in charge of the lunch. Resident Vic Winters submitted receipts from the Hockey Pools to date in January and Membership Convenor Elsie Cooke announced the 1979 memberships were now available. Mrs. Anne Wilkes and her students from St. Martins Separate School will entertain the residents on Valentines Day, February 14 at 2 p.m. May Dorland will attend to the lunch following for the residents, students and their mothers. Activities Director for Birchwood Terrace, Mina Mahoney, requested the Auxiliary to take over the-Monthly Residents' birthday parties held the third Thursday afternoon of each mon- th.
