PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS OCTOBER 4, 1978 Bubp Rebekah Lodge Fo. 279 A dinner honouring Mrs. Helen Spicer, President of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario was held at Restaurant LeBlanc when twenty-two Rebekah Lodge members attended. Mrs. Winnie Clemens N.G. and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton V.G, presided for the Special Meeting that followed. Mrs. Phyllis Butler, Inside Guardian of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario was welcomed along with the President. A Guard of Honour formed an Arch of long stemmed: roses, held by Mesdames Florence Fischer, Violet Nesbitt, Mildred Smith, Georgina Davis, Evelyne Reynolds and [lene Williamson under which the visitors were welcomed. Several visiting members from Thunder Bay Lodges were also present on this occasion. Mrs. Spicer spoke at length of the various groups within the Order of 0dd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges like Theta Rho for young girls and Jr. Odd Fellows for the young men. The Humanitarian Service Committee which strives to be of service to any- one in the Community in need of hospital equipment, and to help anyone in dire circumstances. The Pilgrimage for Youth to the United Nations and Others. The Order also maintains a Home for the Aged. [tis situated in Barrie, Ont. Since it is now partly subsidized by the Government it is open to interested Senior Citizens, wishing residence there. Following Mrs. Spicer's talk, Mrs. Clemens presented her with a gift as a token of her visit. Other visiting members spoke briefly. Following the meeting a social hour was enjoyed when Mrs. Hamilton arrang- ed guessing contests which all present took part in. A lunch was served and a special cake marking the 53rd Anniversary of Ruby Lodge was made by Beth Macadam and cut by the President who also blew out the candles and wished Rub Lodge many more happy years. Mrs. Spicer visited Mrs. Lily Wilson and Mrs. Agnes Bryson, both Charter nembers of the Lodge, now residing in Birchwood Terrace.
