PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS JULY 19, 1978 BOARD MEETING Highlights of The Lake Superior Board of Education Meeting No. 7/78 held June 19th in Marathon. : : Prior to the opening of the meeting the Board made a presen- tation to Mr. H. Boudreau, retiring Superintendent of Business § Finance, in appreciation for his services. Principal F. Brathwaite, Teacher B. Taylor, students Ruston Collum, Ivana Marnig, Jocelyn Perry and Keven Glaar, from the Mani touwadge Public School were in attendance to make a presen- tation concerning the Manitouwadge Public School Grade 6 Academ- ic Program emphasizing Physical Activities, which had been approved as a pilot project for 1977-78 .and 1978-79. The group was thanked for their positive and enthusiastic report. The minutes of the regular Board Meeting No. 6/78, held on May 15th were adopted. Also adopted were minutes of a Special Board Meeting held on June 12th. This meeting had been called in order to approve the appointment of Mr. David Fulton as Business Administrator for The Lake Superior Board of Education, effective July 17, 1978. The Following minutes were acknowledged as received: French Language Advisory Committee, Advisory Committee to the Caroline McMorland School, Administrative Council-Board Liaison Commi tt- ee. Di sbursements for the month of May 1978, in the total amount of $728,190.56, which includes Term Deposit Purchases in the amount of $400,000.00 were approved. The resignations of Mr. Joseph Lorusso, Custodian at Lake Superior High School, effective May 17th was accepted with regret. ; Board approval was granted for the following appointments: For Lake Superior High School = Mr. Kerry He Powell, effective Sept. 1; Mr. Kenneth Whiting, for school year 1978-79; For Lake Superior Public School = Mr. David Ditchfield as Principal 1s Designate for the 1978-79 school year; For Administration Office: Miss Madge Atkinson, Senior Clerk effective June 19th. For the school year 1978-79 Mr. H.J. Boudreau will negoti- ate transportation agreements and tenders will be called for the System's cleaning contract. . Approval was granted for an Extended Senior Kindergarten program at the Lake Superior Public School, Schreiber Campus, on an experimental basis for 1978-79. Subsequent to the succ~ essful introduction of this program, approval was also granted for the hiring of Mrs. Sandra Quinton as a Junior Kindergarten half-time teacher effective September 1, 1978. The next regular monthly meeting of the Board will be held on Monday, August 21st in the Marathon High School, library.
