As the summer vacation approaches and classrooms are aban- doned, many a student is faced with the task of finding a sum-. mer job, something which is not always easy to come by. The 5 summer job market is a tough one ard many of the good jobs are filled by spring. Wendy explains that the purpose of CMCS is to aid in the search for summer employment by students, 4o alert both employ- er and employee to jobs available and student labor, to act as middleman in helping both employer and student, to provide in- formation to students about job search techniques and to make students aware of the various youth programs available. The Terrace Bay office aids students in the neighbouring communities of Schreiber and Rollport as well and will be act- ive from June to August. To date, approximately seventy stu- | dents have been placed in regular jobs and approximately fifty six in casual jobs. Wendy wxplains that students of sixteen years and over have an easier time at getting regular jobs, and many are hired to work on construction at the mill. Those under sixteen are usually hired for casual jobs such as baby- sitting and home repairs. The market here has been fairly good if the student is willing to work at whatever is availablé Wendy has' received permission from council to proclaim July 3rd to 7th as "Hi re-A-Student-Week", This will be. the forst week off from school and the aim is to focus the commun- ity's attention on the availability and versatility of student labour. Students will hold a baking, books, crafts and white elephant sale on July 5th in the Community Church basement, SATURDAY & SUNDAY LOBSTER HELP YOURSELF FROM OUR SALAD BAR CHOICE OF POTATO VEGETABLE BEVERAGE FOR RESERVATIONS OR INQUIRIES PHONE 825-3286 mmunicating that students are indeed willing and able to per- form tasks.
