MAY 10, 1978 TERRACE BAY NEWS : PAGE 5 A dynamic new organization has been formed in the communi ty by a group of ambitious young people who call themselves "Youth Incorporated". Their goal is to provide interesting and crea- : tive activities for youth, as opposed to "just hanging around the Rec Centre! Their slogan is "we're here for the betterment of youth, and to that end they have been planning various activities such as disco dances, fastball, roller skating, a rock-a-thon and a car wash, They are presently sponsoring the course in disco dancing which has gotten off with a bang. Youth Inc. would like to hold regular weekly dances and are still in search of adequate facilities. - At present, dances are held in the Rec Centres! Conference Room, but space is very limited. . Proceeds from the various functions will go toward Youth Inc ~orporated projects which will benefit the communi ty. Any suggestions for projects and activities from the public are most welcome. ' The Recreation Committee is totally behind this venture, although Youth Inc. is a self-supporting group. Five dollars a year is the membership fee, which entitles members to cut rates for all functions. Present members are: President, Rob St. Louis; Vice President, Sam Mathews: Secretary Janice Liebrock; Treasurer, Steve Bamett; Advisors Karen Leary, Jamie McEwen and Ruth Falzetta; Mark Hara, Mary Pluta, Carole Ann Osmar, Rick St. Louis and Georgina Wood. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY NEWS the Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital met last in Schrei- ber with several new members attending. Annual reports were given by treasurer, Helen Croll; Tuck Shop convenor, Marg Gander; Membership convenor, Marj Stephen and Board representa- tive Christine Handy. Volunteer services reported that there are seven new volunteers working on the Tuck Ship and visiting at the hospital. Members also agreed to assist with the lunch and be in attendance at the door at the Annual Meeting of the Hospital Board, June 14th. NEW EXECUTIVE: The following persons were installed as the new Auxiliary executive: President - Sheelagh Hamilton; 1st vice president - Helen Croll; 2nd Vice president - Gerbachen Sidhu; recording secretary - Elaine Mannisto; corresponding secretary = Lil Christie; treasurer = Norma Crockford and Board Represen- tative - Christine Handy. : : At the May meeting in Terrace Bay there will be guest speak- ers fron the Marathon Hospital Auxiliary. They will share with us the aims and ideas of their Auxiliary and will describe their programs of volunteer services. 2 - MAY DANCE: Our 5th Annual Hospital Ball is planned for Satur day, May 13th. All committees (Tuncheon, decorations etc.) re- ported their progress and will call upon members for assistance that weekend. (At the time of this article a few tickets were still available from Sheelagh 825-3340 or Beth 824-2854, The next meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary is scheduled for May 15th -at 8:00 p.m. in St. Martin School library. The project is funded by the Ministry of Education, Experience '78 Program. One, University student is required to design and co-ordinate project. tasks, research histories and write a final report.
