PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 22, 1978 COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting of the Council of the Township of Ter- race Bay was held Monday, March 13, 1978, at 7:00 p.n. in the Council Chambers. Present were the following Reeve C. Bras- sard; Councillors M. Hamilton, G. Ramsay, P. Romanuk and K. MacLeod; Clerk Co-ordinator W. Hanley and M. Simmer. The minutes of the regular and special meeting were adopted as presented. The following accounts were approved for payment: - Township $55,482.35, Hydro $47,758.01, Library $2,351.25, Recreation $13,530.01. Reeve Brassard will be attending the E.M.0. annual meeting in Thunder Bay April 1st and Councillor Hamilton the meeting of Police Governing Authorities in Toronto April 19th to 21st. Membership in the Association of Municipal Police Governing Authorities was approved. A donation of $200.00 was approved to the Minor Hockey As- sociation to defray the costs of a dinner during the Midget Hockey playdowns in Terrace Bay. The 1978 Road Maintenance and Construction program for sub sidizable roads in the amount of $39,000.00 was adopted. The Cancer Sociefy was given permission to canvas the town. An inquiry re a playground area in lot 276 Kenogami Road has been referred to the Recreation Committee. Council agreed to revising their previous resolution re the airport and include the development of aenew access road fron Hwy 17, left turn lane, taxiway, aireraft parking area, public parking area, electrical supply, teminal building, meteorological equipment, unicom radio, 4,000 ft. runway in- cluding lighting. The estimated cost to be $500,000.00. Council requests the Ministry of Transportation and Communica= tions subsidy of 807 of the cost of all items except that portion of the runway exceeding 3,500 ft. on which subsidy will be 50%. Council] will accept the balance of the capital cost and is requesting approval for the project year 1978. urling S27 omments TERRACE BAY LADIES! 23RD ANNUAL BONSPIEL: Judging from the numerous favourable comments heard around the club during the weekend the 23rd Annual Bonspiel was a great success. |da Romanuk and Janice Wilson were responsible for this success and we congratulate them for the excellent job. Well done girls! The ladies of the Moosé prepared a delicious roast beef dinner for the traditional banquet. 011ie Chapman greeted the curlers and introduced "Mama" Josus and her girls for a grace- ful Hawaiian welcome dance. This was followed by an amusing skit about "short people" put on by tne afternoon ladies. Curlers were really hopping on Saturday night after four Faster rabbits arrived. The previous night was bright with the green of St. Patrick.
