Registration Number 0867 HOME _FOR_AGED BOARD MEETING The first meeting of the new year of the Board of Manage- ment of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged was held at Birchwood Terrace on Friday, January 27th, 1978, Accounts for Birchwood Terrace and Pinewood Court totalling $141,791.22 were approved together with admission for five new Residents. Major staff changes were approved by the Board in the Main= tenance Department in both Homes. Ben Dicks, Maintenance Supervisor at Birchwood Terrace was moved to Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay as Utility Man and, Walter Komoski, Utility Man at Pinewood Court was promoted to Supervisor of Maintenance , at Birchwood Terrace. Later he will replace William Okada pre= sent Supervisor at Pinewood Court, who is retiring in March. The Operational Budget of $1,203,000,00 as submitted by the Finance Committee was approved by the Board. Once approv= ed by the Ministry it will establish a Residential Care per diem of $23.00 for both Homes. This is a slight reduction from 1977 when it was $23.22. Co-operation of all the staff will be required to maintain the high level of care that the Homes 'are noted for and, at the same time working on a strict- ly controlled Budget. Liquor Licence applications for both Homes will be heard at the Da Vinci Centre on February 23rd, 1978. The Licence is required to cover the present operations in the Homes where beer is available for the Residents, plans would require the approval of the District Board of Managemen t. } The Director of Nursing, Mrs. Patricia Flaherty, was re- appointed to the District Health Council Committee on Long Term Cares : Salary changes for the Administrative Group were passed subject to Anti-Inflation Board approval. The increase will give employees in the Group an approximate 30¢ per hour more.
