Mrs. Eirene Harness won the attendance prize. : ROSSPORT, SOCIAL SPECTRUM: Mrs. Dave Mushquash, Mrs. Ron Lanigan and Mrs. Dave Iddison spent the weekend in Sioux Lookout with Peter Mushquash 'and his fiance Miss Cecile Antoinette Maskerine. Thunder Bay visitors during the week were Mrs. Anne Todesco, Mrs. Eugene Gerow, Mr. . and Mrs. Isadore Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schelling, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kenney. George Bruley and son George Jr. of Thun- der Bay visited their summer camp here and got in a spot of fishing. The Pays Plat Indian Band sponsored a bask et social on the weekend to raise funds to install oil heating in their church, the' St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church. It proved very successful. An executive meeting of the Water Associa- tion was held Sunday afternoon in the Ross- port Trading Store building to hear the re- port of the UCANO convention held in Thunder Bay recently, compiled by the delegate Mrs. C.W. Todesco. : Workshops attended were - Isolated Communities Assistance Fund, Corpor-, ation Papers for Community Organizations, Ministry of Health and Environment and Ontar- io Fire Marshall. It was decided to call a general meeting in the near future following certain information expected on corporation, surveying the water line or easement, etc. RETIREMENT PARTY HONOURS PAT LEISANDER: David Leisander and his sister Devona en--- tertained at a retirment party Saturday even- ing in the Community Hall honouring their 'father Pat Leisander upon his retirement after twenty-six and a half years employment " with the .Terrace Bay Kimberly Clark pulpmill. The evening started with a buffet dinner, served to their many relatives and friends. Mr. Leisander is an ardent fisherman. Mrs. Freda Duggan made and decorated a cake in his honour. It had a large fish made of the cake batter across the top and decorated in blue and white. The hall was decorated in blue and white. David and Devona presented their mother Leona with a red rose corsage and a:-white bouton- ierre for the occasion. Gilbert Gerow was master of ceremonies and on behalf of the relatives and friends present -ed Mr. Leisander with a purse of money, a large bar-be-que and linens. During the .evening Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gerow of Halifax and. Mrs. Michael Gerow of Edmonton phoned their uncle on his happy occasion. Following the dinner dancing was enjoyed to tapes and Mrs. Leisander playing many old time tunes on her hammond organ accompanied by Mrs. Joyce Lanigan and Mrs. Patsey Camp- bell on the guitars. ST. BERCHMAN'S ALTAR SOCIETY NEWS: The Ladies Altar Society of St. Berchman's held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Todesco. The president Mrs. Camilla Legault chaired the meeting and led in the prayers and religious instructions. She welcomed the members after not having mét for the past three months owing to the weather conditions and illness "among the group. She also on behalf of the members extended a welcome to Mrs. Leona Leisander a former member back to the organization. Mrs. Leisander had recently returned to the comm- unity after having resided in Thunder Bay for several years.
