FEBRUARY 9, I977 PAGE 5 NORTHERN AFFAIRS by BEV YOUNG GUARANTEED INCOME SUPPLEMENT Its that time of the year again when recipients of the 0ld Age Security Pension are receiving, or will have received, application forms for Guaranteed Income Supplement in the mail] The following information will be of benefit to those who re- celve 01d Age Security Pension or will soon be eligible for 01d Age Security, A Guaranteed Income Supplement is a monthly peyment added to the 01d Age Security Pension of a pensioner who has no in- come, or only a limited amount of income. 3 The amount of the supplement is determined by a pensioner's marital status and income. Income does not include possesions, savings, investments, or a home or property that you may own, nor does it include (for the purposes of the gusreanteed income : supplement) the 0ld Age Security Pension itself. Income is any money you received in the form of retirement pensions, earnings, interest, dividends, rents, eto, If you are married, the combined income of you and your spouse must be taken into account.
