The ladies the dance to take place on WATER DAMAGES BIRCHWOOD TERRACE The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Home for the®* Aged was held at Pinewood Court on Friday, January 28th, I977 with all Board mem- bers in attendance. Operating accounts for the month of Decemb- er, 1976 were passed for payment in the amount of $III,329.74 for Pinewood Court and in the amount of $40,464.18 for Birchwood Terrace. The Board also authorized a small Change Order in the renovations at Birchwood Terrace amount- ing to $55.00. This project will be completed when the light fixtures have been installed. The Board also approved two residents for Pine- wood Court and two for Birchwood Terrace when space is available. A break in the water line at 4:00 a.m. was the cause of $2,400.00 damage. There was a delay in getting the water shut off as mechan- ical men from the Mill at Terrace Bay were sum- moned for help were unable to get into the building. The Administrator was instructed to see that the present bell system is working properly. There will be a change for the Extended Care Residents as of February Ist, I977, rates will be raised from $7.40 to $7.60 per day. The Board replied to recommendations made by Miss Greta Spalding-Martin, Supervisor of Nursing Services for the Province, who visited Birchwood Terrace and Pinewood Court and, made recommendations mainly, in relation to Care Services in the Home. : } The I977 Budget was reviewed in detail by - the Board. Total operating expenditures will be $I,164,000.00. Capital expenditures for both Homes will be approximately $50,000.00 each. Estimated revenues will be $I,005,000.00 with approximately $200,000.00 to be levied to the Municipalities on equalized assessment. Final figures will have to wait until the I976 "audit 'has been completed and, the equalized assessment for the Sixteen Municipalities and the Unorganized Areas are received from the District Assessment Office. $ The next Board meeting will be held on February 25th, 1977. CHESS DAY AT LEGION WELL ATTENDED The chess day at the Royal Canadian Legion Terrace Bay, is quite successful with a number of new people enjoying the coaching of Darko Dimitrijevic, the children that attended are attaining new skills and making many friends.
