TERRACE BAY NEWS VOL. 20 NO. 4 : JANUARY 26, I977 "5 20¢ PER COPY LAKE SUPERIOR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING HIGHLIGHTS The Lake Superior Board of Education Meeting No. 2/77 was held on Saturday, January 15, 1977, at the Lake Superior High School, Schreiber Campus. : The minutes of Meeting No. 14/76 held December 20, 1976 and the Inaugural Board Meeting No. 1/77, held January 5, 1977 were approved. The List of Disbursements in the total amount of $690,615.74, for the month of December, 1976, were approved. : Borrowing By-law #31 was approved. This is a by-law to allow borrow- ing, from time to time, from the Bank of Montreal by way of a promissary note a sum or sums not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of five hun- _dred thousand dollars, to meet, until current revenue has been received, the current expenditures of The Lake Superior Board of Education, for year 1977. The Board approved the swimming schedules and costs presented by the Principals of the Secondary and Public Schools in Marathon, for the use of the Marathon Community Pool during 1977. This project will be consid -ered as a Pilot Project and, therefore, it will be continuously moni- tored through the year. . The Marathon Public School will use the swimming pool each Thursday, all day, from January through June, and September thought November; while the Secondary School will use it each Friday during the same months. Caroline McMorland School will.use the swimming pool each Wednesday morn- ning from 10:00 to 11:00 and will follow the Red Cross Adapted Swimming Program. Other schools in this System will also be permitted to use the same swimming facilities after they have made their own arrangements with the pool management. . The swimming pool program which is being developed for all our stu- dents in Marathon, is part of their regular Physical Education Program. The Board is currently examining the pros and cons of adopting com- puterized payroll for the System. Further information was requested so that a decision could be made at the February Meeting.
