The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged was held at Birchwood Ter- race on Thursday, November 25, 1976. Operating accounts were approved for Pine- wood Court totalling $89,658.54 and for Birch- wood Terrace, $17,126.64. The Board had the pleasant duty of accepting trust funds total- ling $4,821.37 left by the late Emil Lehtio's Estate to Pinewood Court. These funds will be transferred to the donations account to be used at g later date in his memory. The pur- chase of Christmas gifts for the residents .at _ approximately $3.00 per resident was authoriz- ed. The Board had a tour through the renovations that are being carried out at Birchwood Terrace and it is hoped that they will be completed by the end of the year. The Board met with representatives from Schreiber, the Clerk-Treasurer Mr. A.J. Gauth- ier and Alderman Joseph King. Terrace Bay re- presentative was Councillor Mrs. Margaret Hel- mink. They met with the Board for a social half hour and then enjoyed a roast beef dinner- after which, the Chairman, Mr. Alex Daneff, re- viewed the Board's operation. There were many questions answered primarily in the operation of the Birchwood Terrace Home. It was also noted that the building is re- lating to the communities of Schreiber and Ter -race Bay in that there is a therapy program for residents who need to use the whirlpool bath. The building will also be used in conjunc- tion with the Swine Flu injections for resid- ents of the Home and Schreiber and Terrace.
