NO FUNDS FOR DOCTORS OFFICES a letter to Jack Stokes Dear Jack "I am pleased to learn from your letter of June I5th, I976, that the representatives of McCausland Hospital, Thunder Bay, were encour- aged as a result of discussions with Ministry staff, on the subject of the I975/76 budget. and the proposed new facility. Following the May 28th meeting, Mr. W. Bain, Director, Institutional Planning Branch, wrote on June I7th to the Administrator of the Hospital on the matter of the doctors' offices planned for the new hospital and I enclose a copy of his letter for your information. As you are aware, Jack, the Ministry of Health does not provide capital dollars for doctors' offices or medical clinics and, I understand, it is this kind of accommodation which is being planned within the new facility. Mr. Bain advises that the normal procedure in these circumstances would be for the Hos- pital (or the community) to assume responsi- bility for the full capital costs of the doc- tors' offices and to recover this expenditure through rentals charged to the physicians 'occupying the space. - I understand the Ministry recently received some early plans for the new facility and these are being reviewed at present. It is possible we may be able to suggest certain modifications which could. have the effect of reducing the total cost of the project and this, of course, would decrease the hospital's portion of the capital funds. We shall be in touch with the Hospital again as soon as a review of the material has been completed and I shall be pleased to keep continued DAYS 2 ..vsviesss
