Does your six month old respond tc the sound of a ringing telephone? Is your one year old bothered when subjected to loud noises? Is your eighteen month old learning any words? If the answer is "no" to these questions you should consider bringing the child to the Hearing Clinic on Wheels. The Hospital for Sick Children's Mobile Hearing Clinic will be providing hearing ser- vice to infants and children and to older youths and adults if time is available. The unit will be located at McCausland Hospital. This is the first year of operation for the Mobile Hearing Clinic which is sponsored by a grant from the Atkinson Foundation. This mo- bile unit is staffed with an audiologist and has back-up ear specialist assistance. The equipment on board represents the latest in modern audiological service. Norm Opperman, the Clinic Coordinator, said "The clinic is interested in examining child-: ren, especially the pre-schooler who is sus- pected of not hearing properly". "Parents who feel that their young child is not responding to certain household sounds like the telephone, door bells, or speech when his/her back is turned are asked to consider bringing the child for an assessment". Opperman is also concerned that children who are experiencing slow or difficult speech development be -seen. Opperman warns, "Children with undiagnosed hearing problems will find learning particul- arly difficult and may even be considered mild -ly retarded. Social skill development may also be difficult and the child may be unfair- ly considered a behavioral problem". For an appointment to visit the clinic, please call 825-3562 and after July 9th 825- 3678. This hearing program is operated by the Hospital for Sick Children with the assistance of the Board of Governors of the McCausland Hospital. HELP WANTED PART TIME HOUSEKEEPER, NIGHT MAN, COOK.
