I8 - MAY 5, I976 20¢ PER COPY NEW CHAIRMAN FOR HOMES FOR THE AGED BOARD Mr. Fred Harness on the right turning the reign of office to the new Chairman, Mr. Alex Daneff on the left. Mr. Daneff was the unan- imous choice of the Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged. The inaugural meeting of the Board of Man- agement of the District of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged was held on April 23rd, I976 at Birchwood Terrace. Mr. Fred Harness the Chairman opened the meeting by thanking the Board for their int- erest and co-operation during the year and immediately turned the meeting over to the Administrator, Mr. Milton J. Vibert, to con- duct the election of officers for the year. The Board's unanimous choice for Chairman was Mr. Alex Daneff, formerly Vice-Chairman, who was nominated by Fred Harness. The Board members unanimous choice for Vice-Chairman was Mrs. Lillian Morrow and Mr. Verna Peltonen was re-elected as the Board's Secretary-Treasurer. Continued page 2..ceeee. TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting of Terrace Bay Council was held Wednesday, April 28th, with Reeve Bray and Councillors Brassard, Hale and Hel- mink present. The minutes of the previous regular meeting were approved as circulated. The Terrace Bay Curling Club applied for a reduction in rental due to the late start and mechanical problems throughout the year. Their request was turned down by Council. Correspondence was received: from Ed Broad- bent and Keith Penner about the new electoral boundaries stating their support of the town in not wanting the boundaries changed. May 9 - I5 was proclaimed National Week for the Mentally Retarded. A scale of wage rates-was determined for those employees assuming additional responsib- ilities during vacation relief, sickness, etc. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Dakin were accepted as the new concessionaires of the Recreation Centre effective May I6. Council will contact the Ministry of Tran- sportation and Communications to do some zone paving in the town. The resignation of Ken Johnson as member of the Recreation Committee was accepted with re- gret. The following equipment was purchased: a 3/4 ton van for the Fire Department; a new Street sweeper attachment; a loader back hoe for Public Works. Council authorized M. Helmink to coordinate Senior Citizens Week. May I7 - 2I has been designated as Clean Up Week. Letters will be sent to garages re- garding the disposal of old cars. The pick- up of rubbage, etc. will be on May 20 and 2I.
