MARCH 24, I976 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE II The March meeting of the Seigeitac Women's Institute was held with Mrs. Winnie Campbell presiding. Guests were Mrs. Dale Riley and baby Clinton and Mrs. George Riley. Members wore Irish bonnets and answered the roll call with a baby gift. Motto was - "People who are afraid to roll up their sleeves seldom lose their shirts". In current events members discussed the gov- ernment austerity measures to affect Terrace Bay Hospital, the product life dates on per- ishable foods in stores, the outcome of the Federal Progressive Conservative convention and the enrollment of seven thousand students in teacher education programs across Ontario. Mrs. Niemi mentioned she had visited and brought a rose bowl to Mrs. Anne Todesco still in hospital. Mrs. Campbell read an interesting paper on Agriculture and Canadian industries which was prepared by Mrs. Mavis Slater. Information was received on short courses and leadership training schools. Members agreed to apply for a course on "Nutrition and Family Meals" to be held in Schreiber in May. Summary night for the course, "Needle- point for Beginners" will be held March 30th in the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Auditorium in Thunder Bay. The Consumer Contact brochure was pursued. Public hearings by the Royal Commission on Violence are to be held at Geraldton on March I5th. Yearly forms from F.W.I.0. office were received. Members decided to have their monster penny auction sale in June. The Institute was invited to the April meet- ing of the United Church Women when there will be a guest speaker. Slides will be shown and lunch served. Mrs. Bonnie Dye won the attendance prize. On behalf of the Town Council, Mr. Gauthier _ presented to Mrs. Dale Riley the silver baby cup. Mrs. Campbell also presented gifts from the members and several town merchants. Mrs. Moore also gave a gift from the Kinettes. Lunch was served from a tea table decorated with St. Patrick's motifs. Special cake was made and decorated by Mrs. W. Clemens. At the next meeting in April, members are asked to bring articles for the Cancer cupboard and penny auction table. PLAN BUSY MONTH The A.C.W. of St. John's Anglican Church met on Tuesday, March 9th. This month is a busy one for the ladies. We will be making Easter eggs March I8th and March 23rd. Remem- ber the deadline for orders is April 2nd, so don't miss out by getting them in too late. Birchwood Terrace will be visited March 3Ist. with a lunch of tea biscuits and cheese provided. These visits are becoming more and more enjoyable as we get to know each other.
