FEBRUARY 4, 1976 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 LEGION BRANCH #223 NEWS On January 3lst, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #223, Terrace Bay held a very success- ful Fun and Sports day. Bridge, cribbage, darts and shuffleboard was played. The events started at noon with the cribb- age players eagerly participating. Some fant- astic scores were seen and the experts and new players had fun competing together. During the afternoon the Shuffleboard Tour- nament began and as the cribbage players ex- citement mounted so did the shuffleboard opp- onents show their excitement. No one usually has a cheering section for shuffleboard but Saturday was one exception to the rule. Some fine shots were seen, crafty ones, tricky ones and quite a few people scored points for the other team. Alls fair in fun and sports so they still cheered. The tables of bridge players were in the Banquet Hall and peace and quiet reigned in there as the Tournament continued. Many good games were in evidence. The Darts Tournament got under way in the late afternoon with many expert darts players being shot down by new players. Lots of fun was had by all. If the entries in the Dart Tournament was anything to go by, then it seems many a night will be spent at the Legion playing darts in the near future. The winners of the Cribbage Tournament had a long struggle to the last, and it was two past presidents who ended up together in the finals. This game attracted lots of attention. Semi finals were Pat Jones and John Reynolds; John Falzetta and Ned West. The results were Patrick Jones winning and John Falzetta was runner up.
