PAGE 6 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 7, 1975 IWY NWO TRAVELLING CARAVAN On Thursday, August 7th the International Women's Year Travelling Caravan will arrive in Terrace Bay. The caravan has been touring Northwestern Ontario all summer, spending time in each community, providing information and stimulating much thought and discussion every- where. Two Thunder Bay women run the project, Ms. Shelley Vescio and Ms. Brenda Colborne. Together they travel around in their "super cab" loaded with: books, pamphlets and films and set up a display of information twice daily. They are trained to discuss various women's problems with either a group or an individual and they usually present a film or two. Many of the books they carry are for sale. At the end of the summer they hope to set up a perman: ent library of women's material in NWO. some of the information provided - family and property law, employment practices, legal information and rights, nutrition, crafts, birth control, day care, mental and health care, government programs for women, research and studies information and different aspects of IWY itself. The caravan will be set up 'today in the curling lounge, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Please drop in even if only to browse through the material. The caravan is trying to reach the housewives, teachers and working women of the community in a non-radical way. In order to measure the success of the caravan the wom- en are keeping a record of the response and mood of women in each town visited. Let's not have "dull" or "unresponsive" as their description of Terrace Bay. Let's see some representation from every women's organization in town - C.W.L., TOPS, Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliaries, etc. Every woman in Terr- ace Bay can benefit from the information pro- vided by this wonderful caravan.
