PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS: MAY 8, 1974 CLUB DISPLAYS CRAFTS Mary-Fay Green, is the Northwestern Ontario councillor of the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild (OHCG) , the largest Guild in Canada with 400 active chapters. Schreiber's group was mentioned in the Inter -national letter published by Ned and Margaret Rowan of Rittermere - Rittermere being the hub of hooking in Ontario, located in Vineland. Schreiber's group recently had a showing of their work at a tea in Mrs. Green's home, and were loud in their surprise and admiration. And, it has to be said, this group added laughter to a dull winter when they announced the name of their new club as "The Happy Hookers!" Geraldton will have another way to achieve uniqueness -- a woman town clerk won't do it, since Schreiber has had one for ten years -- Mrs. Mary Zombori, who has just resigned. Her place is taken by Mr. Aurel J. Gauthier. Photo by I. McCuaig. ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH FALL FAIR St. Andrew's Church Fall Fair committee is® on the prowl again for wares for the great event, so there is no need to check, for var- mints, if one hears noises about one's garbage set out - it could be Jim Crook, Huck Gerow, 'Pont' Gordon, or Don Green, checking for ar- ticles to be auctioned. A white elephant sale never occasioned the fun that this annual event does; dismayed housewives, who've stealthily, under cover of darkness, put some trash (to them) out for an early garbage collection, watching with un- believing eyes as family members gleefully buy these back again from the silvery-tongued auctioneer! REBEKAH TEA Mrs. Lil Harris, their Noble Grand, receiv- ed at the Ruby Rebekah Daffodil Tea on April 27th, convened by Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, the Vice-Grand. . Mrs. Mary Nazvesky, of Thunder Bay, won the floral piece, Mrs. Mary Kaczmiercak the cake, and to everyone's amusement, Mrs. Harris won the door prize. Servitors were Mesdames Alice Sparkes, Betty St. Amand, Lilian Christie, Dora Weaver, Gail Pollard and Marion Simon. : The favours on the small daintily appointed tables were booklets containing several reci- pes for party sweets. ; continued page I5 ......
