MAY 8, 1974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY SPRING MEETING The Spring Meeting was held in the large meeting room on Friday, April I9th with 30 members present. Mr. Norman Harrison, Dist- rict Director was a most honoured and inter- esting guest. Mr. Farrow and Mr. Birch are to attend the District Meeting to be held in Rainy River on May I8th. Town Council granted permission to the Society to hold a plant sale. The tentative date for this is June 4th in the Curling Club parking lot. Memberships are still available from soci- ety members. If you have not purchased one do so now for if you don't have yours prior to May I5th we can't guarantee a premium which this year will be mixed freschia. Any member wishing fertilizer in I975 must have their orders in by November. It was re- ported by J. Steen that the fertilizer purch- ased this year is all sold. Terry Dorland will again be in charge of public planting in the flower beds in front of the bank and at the fountain in the park. Lester McCuaig will look after the planting. at Schreiber's Cenotaph. The Society will be having a Perennial Pla- nt Sale this year tentatively on June Ist. Everyone is welcome-to Bring and Buy. People willing to trade are also most welcome. We will be glad to see everyone out to make this new project a big success. The Trillium Awards will be continued again with two awards for each town. The Annual Show will be held in the arena on August 24th with H. Landry as chairman. R. Gerlach and his committee will super- vise the Junior Gardeners. Door Prizes were won by J. Steen, band, A. Connors and B. Duncan. The meeting was adjourned with M. Moher serving delicious refreshments. M.
