CHIMO CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS The following new officers were elected at the Chimo Senior Citizens' Club regular meet- ing on January I8th. Lester McCuaig, past president; Tommy Whent, president; Anne Todesco, first vice-president; Mary Chadwell, second vice-president; Cyril Sparkes, treas- urer; Clem Downey recording and correspond- ing secretary - with Inez McCuaig to act dur- ing his two months' winter holiday. Trus- tees = Ed Cavanaugh, Clem Downey, Lester McCuaig, with W.T. Wallace to replace Clem Powney during his absence. Harry Costall was named chairman of the House Rules committee, to name the members. Ida Krause reported the cards for the monthly project had been prepared and circu- lated, and are for sale from any member. Lester McCuaig reported talking with Angela Martinsen regarding asking for project grants. A vote of appreciation was given to Lester McCuaig and Clem Downey for their work in getting the club established. The next meeting will be on February I5th at 2 p.m. in the club room. BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Lake Superior High School Hawks clinched the Central Division Basketball Championship by defeating Marathon 55 to 29. Pat Heenan was top rebounder. Bill Souliere was top scorer with I2 points followed by Mark Dash- kewytch with IO points. The Hawks defeated Manitouwadge 64 to 43. Top rebounder was Robert Vanderkam with II 'rebounds followed by Mark Stokes with 8. Top scorer was Bill Souliere with I8 points followed by Mark Stokes with I4 points and Robert Vanderkam with I2. The Junior girls lost a close game in sover -time to Marathon, 24 to 20. Debbie Opas had I4 points for LSHS. The team lost to Manitouwadge 39 to I6, with Judy Davis gett- ing 6 points for LSHS. : The Junior boys defeated Marathon 33 to 26 - Ron Lapenskie top scorer with I2 points. In the second game the juniors defeated Manitouwadge by 33 to 32 - Ron Lapenskie again top scorer with I8 points. The Senior girls defeated Marathon 3I to I8 but lost by same score to Manitouwadge. On January I7th the LSHS boys' senior bas- ketball team won the N.S.S.S.A.A. Championship by defeating Chapleau 63 to 39 and Geraldton 52 to. .I8. : Mark Stokes was top rebounder in the first game with I8 rebounds followed by Robert Vanderkam with IS. Vanderkam was also top scorer with 32 points followed by Stokes with I2.
