At the same time last year over I0 per cent of the plates had been sold. The renewal stickers have been on sale at 291 issuing offices throughout the province since the first of December and Ministry officials are concerned that if the number of motorists applying for renewal does not soon increase, it will be impossible to avoid line -ups at the end of February. Present multi-year plates must be validat- ed by applying the sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the rear plate prior to midnight, February 28. Those applying for renewal will be asked to fill out an insurance form available at the issuing offices and hand it, along with the ownership permit and fee, to the issuing agent. The validation sticker will then be issued along with complete instructions as to the method of applying to the plate. As in I973, fees are $23 for a 4-~cylinder vehicle; $32 for 6-cylinders; $40 for an 8- cylinder car and $5 for trailers. STOKES ANNOUNCED COMMUNITY GRANTS I have been advised that under the Commur- ity 'Centres Act a grant totalling $II,097.5¢ has been approved for the Geraldton Indoor Swimming Pool and a further grant of $I,055.28 has been approved for the Terrace Bay Outdoc: Pool.
