CHIMO CLUB The Chimo Club held its first meeting, on December I4th, in its comfortable and handsome new club house, with Lester McCuaig, presiding. Inez McCuaig, secretary, and Cyril Sparkes treasurer. The sum of $22.50 will be sent to Care, raised by members' donations, in lieu of an exchange of Christmas gifts. Clem Downey, for the executive, reported on the dispersal of the Grant received, with all Pig bills for renovations, paid, suggested the possibility of securing a resident care- taker, with light duties - this was held over for further discussion. It was decided to: hold the formal opening of the club in Spring when favourable weather can be expected. Meanwhile a Hcuse Warming, to which the adult public (no children) is cordially invited to inspect the new quarters. Clem Downey presented a list of members who had agreed to run for various offices, with nominations from the floor and voting taking place at the regular January meeting. Tommy Whent thanked the members who had assisted in washing and placing kitchen supp- lies in the shelves, reporting some orders : were short while others were doubly filled ~- the matter reported to the business firms con- It was decided to order additional copies of the constitution and some Rules of Order. Ida Krause and Tommy Whent volunteered to supply songsheets. Cyril Sparkes reported insurance on the club's contents and liability has been secured and paid. : A hearty vote of appreciation went to those who have worked so hard to complete the reno- vations. Lunch was served following the meeting. LEGION CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY The Legion children's Christmas party was again a joyful success, with the excited kids singing carols as Santa entered the hall to distribute the 85 gifts. Much of the fun, for the adults, was seeing the children on Santa's knee, whispering the presents they'd like under their tree at home. Cre little girl, forgetful of her own wishes, urgently asking for a dishwasher for her grand- mother! Frank McKenna, in his fifth appearance was the man of the hour and others working in- cluded Mesdames Barbara McLaughlin, Jean Crook, Gecrgira Davis, Veneta McKenna, Earl Holmes, Liliam Christie, Earline Johnson, the convener, N assisted by Betty Ann McKenna, Judy and Margot Davis and Cheryl Johnson, and Mrs. George Lengyel, pianist. ' The Schreiber Kinsmen and Kinettes paid their annual visit to the local pensioners, in a gaily decorated sleigh, and a merry Santa presenting a gift of bonbons, and, from the Kinettes, the much-appreciated list of volun- teer drivers for the older people without cars - some available at a moment's notice.
