AGUASABON GOLF SPORTS NEWS On June 6th the first Men's twilite for the I973 season started off under cloudy skies with threats of showers. The fellows were very enthusiastic about the game even though some got a little damp. The winners were as follows: "A" Division: Low Gross =- Bill Stachiw scoring 37 Low Net - Tony Costa scoring 35 "B" Division: Low Gross =- Mark Gowan scoring 47 Low Net - John McEwen scoring 35. Wednesday, June I3th Men's twilite started off at 5:30 sharp with a great group of men, participating. The weather man must be a golfer as he gave us a bright warm sunshine for the event. There were a lot of laughs and remarks among the fellows about their shots and swings and all seemed to have a great time. There were winn- ers too: "A" Division: Low Gross - Grant Solly scoring 37 Low Net - Ray Hansen scoring 36% "B" Division Low Gross --- Mark Gowan scoring 44 Low Net - Clarence Buck scoring 33 Something new is being added to the Men's twilite on Wednesday, June 20th. So fellows why not come out and give it a whirl. Golfing is a good refreshing sport. July 2nd, Knights of Columbus Tournament Tee Off time at IO a.m. sharp. Entry fee $I.00 ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT The engagement is announced by her mother of Lynn Adele, daughter of Mrs. Muriel Schultz 2I7 Beck St., Thunder Bay, Ont. and the late Paul Schultz, to Reid Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boutilier, Terrace Bay, Ont. The wedding will take place at 4 p.m., July I4th in Trinity United Church, Thunder Bay. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE MEETING The regular meeting of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Women's League was held on June 1%, in the Parish Hall. The Rosary was recited in the Church, prior to the. meeting, for vo- cations. The president, Mrs. G. Ramsay call- ed the meeting to order and lead in the Leag- ue prayers. ; Mrs. P. Regis read a passage from the Jer- usalem Bible. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer gave her report along with the standing conveners. Mrs. P. Regis, Church Life, read a poem entitled "For All Fathers" in appreciation of Father's Day and reported an ecumenical service will be held on Sunday, July Ist for Canada Day. Mrs. P. Helmink, Social Economics and Civic Life, gave her report. She asked for prayers on behalf of Mrs. Y. Vienneau's sister who passed away. Mrs. B. Robitaille, Cultural Life, reported that the graduation pins had arrived at a cost of $2I.4I. A penny auction will be held in the fall. Plans for a bowling team are on the way if enough ladies are interested. A discussion took place on this subject and fur- ther decissions will be made in the fall. Mrs. Lapenskie, Organization, reported that we have 73 paid up members and canvassing shou ~1d be completed by next week. The membership tea was a success and she thanked the ladies on her committee and all who helped with memb- erships, delivering the recipe books and in- vitations, and the beautiful lunch served. Anyone wishing to buy membership pins will be able to get them from her at $2.50 each. Communications and Public Relations, Mrs. R. Belliveau reported that a check was made ] and both motels and the recreation centre have "hours of Sunday Masses" posted. Sunday, June 3rd was Communication Day and everyone should reflect on how the communica- tions media should be used as tools to seek and spread Christ's message. ¢ All of the ladies will be asked to help out for the penny auction and auction sale which will be held in October. i Christian Religious articles will be put on continued page 9 ..eeesees NOTICE There will be a come and go tea honouring Miss Gwen Hadly upon her retirement on June 27th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Schreiber Public School Auditorium.
