Minutes of the Library Board, Recreation Committee and Township Council were adopted. The May police report was read as submitted by Chief Barnett. Chief Barnett also reported through a letter that Mr. George Histed, recently hired as a Constable with this Department is unable to accept the appointment due to family sickness. The damage to a telephone pole on Elizabeth Ave. as a result of a recent accident is estim- ated at $300.00. Chief Barnett has informed Council that damages may be claimed from either the offender or the Uninsured Motor Vehicle Fund. Under correspondence a letter from GRM En- gineering requested Township to supply 550 volt 3 phase system to the said premises for I2 months and to be increased to 250 amps within two to three years. Upon a request by Council to the McCausland Hospital Corporation for Board minutes an ans- wer was received that these minutes are offic- ial documents of the Hospital Corporation and should not be distributed to any other organiza- tion and Council should obtain these reports from the Township of Terrace Bay representative who is supplied with a copy of these minutes. Kimberly Clark of Canada wrote advising Council they had been approached by the Ministry of Natural Resources requesting that the priv- ate road through the Golf Course be made pub- lic. Kimberly Clark is prepared to sell the land to the Ministry and also dedicate the road to the Municipality with the municipality assu- continued page 2: .. oi dee eee FREE LITTER BAGS FOR SUMMER TRAVELLERS A million litter bags are being distributed by the Ministry of the Environment to meet the start of the summer vacation season. Bearing green wording which reads-~The Poll~- ution Fighter, Use It, Keep Ontario Beautiful, the white plastic containers will be available at all Ontario Industry and Tourism travel in- formation centres and field offices, major reg- ional tourist bureaus and at service stations on mainly travelled highways. The bags are keyed to Environment's current anti-litter campaign. ANNOUNCEMENT Ranald T. Ide, chairman of the Ontario Edu- cational Communications Authority announced the reappointment of Margaret Averill of Marathon, to the OECA Northwestern Ontario regional coun- cil. Mrs. Averill is an expert at dealing with pre-school and disturbed children for the Lake Superior Board of Education. Her work covers the area which includes Rossport, Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Marathon, Manitouwadge in special education. The I5-member regional council was formed over two years ago to advise the OECA on the development of educational television and other educational technology in Northwestern Ontario. The council meets once a month and welcomes the views of the general public on educational communications. ;
