Sadie Benko presided at the meet- ing and minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read by Stella Sadowick. Correspondence included a thank you card from Elsie Wills and a bulletin from Moose- heart. Highlights of her trip to Mooseheart and the capping ceremony were given by Alice Yates. She was invested with her cap and gown on June 8th. Our new dishwasher has been installed and a cheque for $300.00 was presented to the Lodge towards the dishwasher. Any members willing to travel to Marathon to attend their supper and dance at the Moose Hall on June 16th, please leave your name with Bill Kurylo. It was decided to present our $50.00 bur- saries to students whose parents are members of the Chapter or Lodge only. Pot of gold was won by Alice Yates and raffle by Alma Moquin. Following adjourment, a delicious lunch was served by Stella Sadowick, Anne Stachiw, Minnie Woodruff and Sadie Benko. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETS The Directors of the Terrace Bay Horticul- tural Society met at the home of the secretary on May 29th. President, John Steen welcomed everyone present. Membership chairman, Mrs. Dianne McKenzie reported I97 members to date. Public planting projects will be the same as last year, with George Birch supervising planting at the Cenotaph in Schreiber, and Terry Dorland looking after the two beds in Terrace Bay. Preparations are under way by Show Chair- man, Hyacinthe Landry for the Flower and Veg- etable Show which will be held in the Terrace Bay Arena on August 25th. Trillium Awards will be presented as in previous years. Judging of the front yard landscaping and gardens will be carried out in August. Junior Gardens Chairman, Albert Cadieux,. reported that there would be 58 junior garden- ers this year. Mr. Ab Farrow gave a report on the District Meeting held in Thunder Bay on May IIth. Mr. R.F. Gomme from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food was the speaker. Mr. Farrow was asked, at the meeting, if the Terrace Bay Society would be interested in hosting a District meeting in the future. Mr. Farrow has keen chosen as cne of three assistants to Mr. Ncrman Harrison, Cistrict Director, to aid him in covering this region. More than 10 million acres of forest land in New Brunswick has been sprayed since 1952 for Spruce Budworm control.
