PAGE IO TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 13, 1973 "CANADA DAY" PROGRAMME SHAPING UP Again the attendance was small at the sec- ond meeting of the "Canada Day" committee, held June 6th. The programme was outlined in more detail with cuts and additions made were needed. Still at a sketchy stage the 3-day event is shaping up something like this: - Friday evening - Adult Dance - Moose Hall Saturday afternoon - Children's races - athletic field. Saturday evening - Youth Dance - Memorial Arena - 9 p.m. - midnight With Sunday, July Ist being the actual Canada Day a full day of events has been plan- ned. 9:30 a.m. - cycling event. This event has been basically planned as a community participating event. Although prizes will be awarded the committee is hoping that all will enter for the "sheer fun of it". Portions of the town will be blocked off during the roughly two hour period it will take to hold the race. If you can't enter be sure and get out and cheer the cyclists on. This is more a self- indurance event and those entering need your encouragement. An open air (weather permitting) ecumenical service to be held in Centennial Park is in the planning stage with further details to be announced. : Children's costume judging will follow with catagories to be outlined and prizes awarded. So far things are shaping up for a beer garden to be held at Simcoe Plaza. The fam- ily is invited to this event along with all other events being held. The atmosphere will be one of an enjoyable family afternoon. Food will be available at minimable cost and the open area of the plaza with the Terrace Bay Band in attendance should certainly highlight the day. At press time the committee has been able . to obtain the services of organizations and . individual citizens in order that they might make this a truly "Canada Day". At most activities no entry fees will be charged and dance admissions will be as low as possible. Hand flags will be available for children and all are invited to join in the fun. With the next meeting being held Monday evening no further reports will be available until June 20th. Be sure and watch for further details and begin planning the events you will participate in. continued page II KINDERGARTEN Please bring the following: I. 2.
