MOBILE SAILING SCHOOL The Ontario Sailing Association is offering to communities along the North Shore of Lake Superior the opportunity to learn basic sail- ing. The area reaches from Nipigon to Mara- thon, with Manitouwadge included for. those who can take advantage of the program. Each mobile sailing school unit consists of two qualified Canadian Yatching Association Sailing Instructors, a van, five Patrol Class sailboats, one motor boat, teaching aids and safety equipment. Each student receives fifteen hours of in- struction during the program. Those register- ed are divided into three groups. The Sailing School will operate in Rossport using the facilities of the Rossport Recreat- ion Centre as headquarters, from Monday, June 25th to Friday, June 29th. High school students are requested to reg- ister for the 9 a.m. to I2 noon session, elem- entary school students for the I:30 p.m. = 4:30 p.m. session, and adults for the 6 to 9 p.m. session. All registration forms and registration fees must be submitted by Wednesday, June I3th to Charles Wilde, Lake Superior High School, Schreiber Campus, either by mail or directly to the high school office. Transportation by bus will be provied for the morning and afternoon sessions. FATHER AND SON BANQUET The annual cubs' father and son banquet was held in St. Andrew's church hall with Cy Pyke as M.C. Others at the head table were the Rev. Arthur Chabot, who said Grace, Tom Quin- ton, vice chairman, Peter Doig, treasurer and Bruce Gordon, president of the Kinsmen Club who sponsor the movement in Schreiber. Mr. Pyke, who is chairman of the committee, proposed the toast to the Queen, and to Lord Baden Powell founder of Scouting. Dominic Costa proposed the toast to the fathers, and his father, Albert, responded, thanking the leaders for the time and guidance Mr. Pyke gave formal praise to Akela - Mrs. Pat Moore and Joe Wills, assistant cub master adding it will be a great loss when Mr. Wills and his two sons, both cubs, leave for their home in Thunder Bay. Cub Glen Korman presented a gift to Mr. Wills and cub Paul Moorey a gift to Mrs. Moore Gifts were also presented to Mark and Joey Wills. continued page I5 ......
