PAGE -I2 TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 6,1I973 CANADA DAY PROPOSED 3-DAY EVENT Although the large group expected did not show at the first Canada Day meeting last Mon- day evening, the twelve people who showed their interest were able to come up with a relatively good proposed 3-day programme. Last year's I day programme was read to give those attending an idea of what was held for Canada Day in previous years. This years proposed programme may included an adult dance, a youth dance, children's races costume judging, treats, an ecumenical service, bicycle race, beer garden, best decorated home windows, box lunch, and a possibility of the Terrace Bay Band in attendance. . The Canada Day committee is looking for more of the younger people to participate in prepar- ations for these days. Your ideas are sought - bring them to the . next meeting to be held tonight, Wednesday, June 6th at 7 p.m. in the curling club. Anyone who is interested or can give the smallest contribution by just attending these meetings are most welcome. Come tonight at 7 p.niior a little later Af you can't make it for 7. LOCAL ASSOCIATION TO GUIDES & BROWNIES The Local Association to Guides and Brownies held their final monthly meeting of the season May 28, I973, in the Community Church basement with sixteen members present. 'President, Mrs. G. Moore chaired the meet- ing which opened with the Guide Prayer. Minut- es of the last meeting were read by secretary Mrs. R. McBride. Any girl who will be seven by December 3I, I973 may join Brownies when Brownies begins in the fall. It was decided to purchase a new tent for the Guides and Brownies. Mrs. C. Cvitkovich will be taking the Guides on a camping trip to Three Finger Lake, July i7, 1973; The next meeting will be held on September 24th, 1973. The meeting was adjourned and a lovely lunch was served by Mrs. E. Ramsay and Mrs. S. Caron. STORK CLUB Born to Mr. and Mrs. Rod Thompson of Terrace Bay a boy on June 3rd, I973. Mr. Stephen Wm. Mc. Nickoluk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Nick- oluk, Terrace Bay, received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lakehead Univer- sity, at Convocation Exercises held on May 26th. - Attending Convoca- tion were his parents his gister, Mrs. J.J. Kennedy of Toronto; Miss S. Weller and Mr. W. Charyna. Stephen has accept- ed a position as a Bvoorame Coordinator with the Lakehead Psy- chiatric Hospital in Thunder Bay. Members of the Grade Eight Public School sold tickets on sets of garden furniture, proceeds to go toward their trip to Hamilton. The lucky winners were Mrs. L. Gorman, Mrs. S. Stortini and Mr. K. Burgess. Mr. G. Capar drew the winning tickets.
