PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 24, I973 STAN SPADONI HEADS FASTBALL EXECUTIVE A new executive was elected for the Schreiber Fastball League at a well attended open meeting on Wednesday, May I6th. The new president is Stan Spadoni. He will be joined on the executive by Fred McCol- eman, Vice-President; Norm Boon, Secretary and Jody Davis, Treasurer. Also elected were three directors: Bryan Webb, Rod Bryson and Paul Gauthier. Main topic of discussion at the meeting was the method to use to pick balanced teams for the league. The new executive wasted little time in getting things organized. They stayed behind after the regular meeting broke up and put to- gether what they feel will be three competi- tive teams for this season. Of particular interest to the fans will be the following changes. Ace hurler Dick Mannisto will do his pit~- ching for the Mayfair Hotel this season. Veteran receiver Fred McColeman will be doing the catching for Dick this year. Cagey right hander Barry Harper will form a battery with catcher Norm Boon to try and defend the Legion's League championship tro- phy. Also moving to the Legion in this ex- change will be slugging outfielder =- pitcher Bob Fummerton. Peppery Stan Spadoni and the "Toy Cannon' of the Schreiber Fastball League, Doug Moore will do the pitching and lead the offense of the third league team which this year will be wearing spanking new uniforms which team sponsor Geoff Birch purchased for this season. Don Neilon sponsors the Mayfair Hotel team and has also ordered new uniforms for the tournament team. Schreiber Legion, Branch I09, sponsors the Legion team. Two well known veterans, Albert Costa and Texaco Joe Figliomeni, will make a comeback with the Legion club this year. With these two in the lineup and Norm Boon to back them up they should be the loudes team in the league. By the time this writeup appears in the News each team will have played two exhibition games. This years schedule appears after this write up. Games will be played every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. SCHEDULE: Thurs., May 24th Legion vs Mayfair Sun.
